i’ve mainly decided to write here to share more about myself with people. employers because you can only put so much on a resume. people in general because a website is like a beacon for others with common values, beliefs, and interests.

you’ve probably noticed that some pages are in all-lowercase, while others are capitalized properly with capital i’s and words at the beginning of sentences¹. i’ve written the more personal, informal pages in lowercase and the more serious, formal pages with proper capitalization.

writing as a practical thing

objectively, my writing isn’t very useful. if you have a question that you can’t answer, you’d probably refer to an ai search or youtube videos.

with the growth of ai these days, it doesn’t make sense to manually create content. as well, a lot of people prefer short videos rather than long-form writing.

writing for fun

i find writing fun even though it’s not directly beneficial to my career. you can use running as an analogy. cars can move faster than any human could ever, but millions of people still run because of how it impacts them. it’s fun, and it’s healthy. you could say the same thing about a lot of hobbies. they don’t really have a reason for doing them, but they make life more enjoyable.

a career in writing

while there are ways to monetize writing through copywriting or content creation, to me, they’re not as fun.

with newsletters or articles, usually they grow if they are content that fulfills some kind of need, which i guess is similar to entrepreneurship. i think it’s way more exciting to just ramble spontaneously. as well, studying computer engineering and doing all these coding projects is kind of mentally draining, and i just want to do something that doesn’t really matter.

i tried starting a newsletter on substack, but i gave up before i even started haha. i didn’t really find posting notes daily enjoyable, and i didn’t like the rigid format of linear articles. however, i’ve decided to still post there just to see if any of the random doodoo i’m writing here happens to resonate with anyone.

maybe i’m significantly hindering my potential at making writing into a career, but i’m currently not willing to dedicate the time and effort to write consistently. we’ll see what happens. MAYBE i’ll change my mind later.
